What's your idea of fun? Do you like to dance? Play video games? Go on outdoor adventures? Meet new people? Learn new things? Outfit your cell phone with a global SIM card? No matter what your idea of fun is, you can find something here in Surrey, British Columbia that will appeal to you. There are too many attractions and activities to list all in one article, so we're going to limit ourselves to an overview with highlights of some of our favorites.
Outdoors
Surrey is a very outdoorsy city. While you'd have to consult Toronto blogs to find out where to see a tree in that city, much of the forest Surrey city was carved out of still remains as parks, trails, or simply as roadside decoration. There are twelve major parks in Surrey where you can hike, bike, boat, swim, picnic, observe wildlife, and even ride a miniature train. There are clean beaches, sporting fields, forests, lakes, trails, vineyards, and manicured gardens to visit as well as a number of popular golf courses.
Festivals
Vancouver and its surrounding suburbs, like Surrey, together comprise the hub of western Canadian arts and culture. Many television shows are filmed here during the spring and fall and there are festivals dedicated to everything from contemporary dance to agriculture. Some of the most popular include Winterfest, which features music, food, and fireworks, the Cloverdale Rodeo, Canada's second largest such event, and the annual Children's Festival. There are also numerous ethnic festivals, as Surrey is a very culturally diverse municipality. They all come together for the annual FusionFest.
Sports
Feel like kicking back and watching a game? While we in Surrey can't offer as many sporting options as you might have had access to as a Toronto event caterer, there are still many professional and semi professional sports teams you can see play. The Canada Cup of women's softball is played in Surrey each summer and the city is home to the first arena in the country dedicated to the South Asian sport of Kabaddi. The most popular events to attend, however, are the Surrey Eagles hockey games. They've won several British Columbia Junior Hockey League titles.
Museums
As a relatively new city, even by new world standards, Surrey doesn't have the kind of long history you could spend the rest of your life learning about, so if that's what you're looking for you should take your real estate license course in Europe. There are ways to get in touch with Surrey's past and future, though. You could visit a historic farm to see how the pioneers lived, tour a working honeybee farm, or browse the City of Surrey Museum.
